In America 75% of people identify as being a Christian, 100% of Americans have the ability to go to a church and hear the gospel maybe this was you or someone on the street came up and shared the gospel with you. Let me set up a scenario for you, so you’re a believer and you’ve heard the gospel, the good news of who Christ is, you’d want to share that with someone wouldn’t you? Let’s say your ability to speak with someone about Jesus or sharing your testimony with them was against the law unless they ask you about it……
Here in Mongolia that’s exactly the case, with Christianity making up roughly 2% of the population and sharing the gospel being against the law it can almost seem impossible to share with people who Jesus is. If I were given this scenario I probably would’ve looked at you with a blank stare not knowing exactly what to say, how can you share the gospel without actually sharing the gospel, how to you get a stranger to ask you about your testimony or about Jesus?!
Although today is my second day with Transformation Mongolia, their heart is completely transparent. Since they can’t openly bring the gospel to the streets they walk and act like the gospel. They choose to live every part of their life for Christ. Our first day here a couple of us were talking to a women named “Hunger” she said, “Since you can’t tell people about Jesus, you show people who Jesus is with the way you act and the way you treat people.”
Talking with one of the pastors here, Joy, she said they opened a coffee shop up 2 years ago to bring people in. She said initially many people in the town thought that’s just where the Christians ate but about a year after them opening other people in the town began to trickle in and would ask questions about the people who worked and gathered there. They’d ask about their actions and kindness and why they were that way. This opened up the door to tell them why…… Jesus. Pretty cool, right? The people here are seeking the Kingdom despite the obstacles they face and they do it joyfully. I’m so excited to partner and do ministry alongside this amazing church.
