Can you believe this is my first World Race blog?! How crazy is it that this journey is officially starting!
I figured my first post should be a little bit of an explanation. Most of you have no idea what the Race is and no idea my heart behind going on it. I encourage you to look around on the World Race website to read up on this amazing program. Here’s the race in a nutshell though, its an 11 month mission trip that will go to 11 different countries. My countries are: Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, and Greece. We will be doing any work that is needed in these countries. It can be physical labor, playing with children, teaching english, visiting hospitals, or anything else that our host want us to do.
Now for a bit of my heart. I first heard about this trip when I was a senior in high school. I was planning on applying for the gap year program they have and was going to do that instead of college. Well obviously this didn’t happen. From 2015 until now I filled out many different applications for the race just never submitted them. I would constantly find myself coming back to the idea of the Race. But I also always made excuses on why I shouldn’t do it. Looking back on it however, its a good thing I never fully applied before. I was not in the place in life where it would’ve been a good idea for me. This all leads up to this year. When I heard they were going to announce the August 2019 routes I felt pulled to it. I sat and listened to the announcement on the night it came out. They said the countries on the route I ended up picking and I knew that was where I was supposed to be. So I submitted my application. Next thing I know I’m having my phone interview and a few days later I got my acceptance call. Throughout this whole process I have felt such peace. I know this is the next step in my life and I know that God is calling me for this. There are so many reasons on why I was drawn to this route and reasons behind finally submitting the application this year. - PrayerThis year is going to full of so many different emotions. Between the challenges of getting all my gear needed and just mentally preparing for the last year at home before being gone for a year. Closer to when I’d leave I’ll have more specific prayer request but as for now here are some things to pray for: growth with me and my team, preparations for leaving, financial support, peace. Like I said, later on I’ll have more specific prayers needed but for now this is a great start!
- FinaciallyFriends I’m not going to lie. This is a big partnership needed. $19,000 is a lot of money I’ll be the first to admit. But I know God is faithful and provides. If this is my calling He won’t let me fail. I trust that promise. That being said, I would urge you to consider donating to my trip. Any dollar amount will help!
