When something keeps appearing, it’s probably a sign.
For me the world race kept appearing when different people from my youth group went on the race. Somehow, I got signed up for not only blog posts from them but the World Race newsletter. When the route release date was set, I told myself I didn’t even like backpacking so why would I go on this trip. Well, low and behold I actually do like backpacking. My friend wanted to go backpacking on practically the last weekend of the season. However, her parents said she couldn’t go alone and needed another person to go with her (her parents were going out of the country the same day so they were out of the question). I went with her on my first backpacking trip (2 day, 1 night). During the next couple of weeks, I got another email that the World Race Gap Year 2019 routes were up. Well…. My sole excuse of not signing up was now thrown out the window because, as it turns out, I actually do like backpacking. So I prayed about it and decided to apply. I decided that if I got accepted, then the world race is where I’m supposed to be and if I got rejected then I was simply misreading the signs.
Fast forward a few months and I see that homecoming weekend backpacking trip as God taking away my excuse to not follow his calling and serve him instead of going to college in the fall of 2019.
In short the answer to the question of why am I going on the world race is that God doesn’t take no for an answer to the next step in his plan.
