Many of you have asked why I made the decision to take a gap year. I grew up surrounded by everything to do with the University of Oklahoma. I went to all the sporting events, all the summer camps, my grandparents graduated from OU, my brother went there, and I just couldn’t see myself going anywhere else. In April of my junior year in high school, I decided to give my life to the Lord at HouseLife. A few months later, I went to Haiti with my church and the Lord opened my eyes to the importance of taking the Gospel to all the nations. So last Spring break, I went to East Asia with my church on another mission trip. At the time, my heart was still set on attending OU, but during the trip the Lord revealed to me that missions isn’t a calling, it’s a command. So this Fall, instead of going to The University of Oklahoma, I will be going on a 9 month mission trip to Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Costa Rica because I’ve been more than just called to a mascot, I’ve been commanded to a mission.
