“Lord, our Lord. How majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” Psalm 8
This Psalm is one that hasn’t let go of my heart for a while now. There is just something so special about what David is speaking and it’s been growing on my heart. On a past blog post, I wrote about what it means to consider something and taking the time to see the Kingdom in whatever we may consider. As you do this, you begin to see the Kingdom in everything around you. And it amazed me to see that David did the same!
He took the time to consider the heavens, and the work of His fingers. And from that he imagined the moon and stars and how the Lord set them in place. David knew the great value of simply considering the glory of God’s creation. He knew what it was like to look up into the starry night sky and consider what a mighty God had made this vast, wonderful universe – while mankind is so small in comparison, yet He is still mindful of us. How can a God that created such vastness, still be so mindful of mankind. Human beings that He deeply cares for, so much that He made us a little lower than the angels and CROWNED us with glory and with honor. He made us rulers over the works of what He created, by His hands, and put everything under our feet. When I think about the idea of creation and the concept of creating something, you would have to love and entrust someone DEEPLY in order for you to give them a piece of your creation. Something that is so precious to you, yet you are placing it in someone else’s hands because you love them so much more. Oh, how gracious is He.
All while considering, David sings in praise. Lord, I pray that my praise be like David’s.
So today, what are you considering and where can you see the Kingdom in that?
With love,
Denae
