I wrote this blog on being patient with different things and trusting God with everything. These two main topics are something important for mE. I hope to share with you some real life examples of how I’ve seen this in my life and while I’m on the World Race. I hope it gives you insight into my everyday life struggle, but also intimate growth with God. Here we go.
I’ll start by saying that at times throughout my whole life it has been a challenge for me to have to wait and see what important information God is going to show me. It can be extremely difficult. The reason why I say this is because I am someone that really likes to know all of the details myself like knowing where I’m going to be at each day and sometimes I get nervous or anxious if we don’t know where or what that place is the last day. For example this is what I sometimes think of when the “important information” come up, saying things like, “Hey guys what do you feel like our next step is?”, four days before we are leaving for the place we are going to
So after describing my life style, I must say that when I start the “Unscripted” route I was excited because I knew I needed to be fully dependent on God with everything we do each day, not knowing any details until the last minute and I would have to discern His voice in all of the different things that we do. In the paragraphs below I’ll share with you how I have grown through the anxious feelings and how I’m still receiving breakthrough in them as well.
I’ll start by stating that the first step for me to receive the breakthrough I needed was for me to declare this whole journey to God. That led me to saying to Him, “God I know your plans are going to be really good, so I give all of the feelings I have towards any of the things that we do with you.” God would then tell me, “Good Daniel, I’m excited to share the journey with you because I know that you’ll grow in some of the things that you need help with.” Then I said, back to Him “I know that God and I can’t wait to do that with you.” In the end I knew that things would turn out well.
Another example of this was when my team and I were discerning where to go right after our small debrief with the whole group in Bangkok, Thailand. It was a time when my team was having to figure out where we were to go next and so we decided to ask God the location He called us to go to. When we finished that prayer, God pretty much showed me the general direction and then some other team members got the exact location we felt God was leading us to. The place that we ended up finding was a place in Eastern part of Thailand near, Laos called Nong Khai, Thailand. It was one of my favorite parts of that trip because our whole team got to agree on the little village there and I was patient enough to allow them to find the place, so I’m excited for more breakthrough in this.
Now I’m going to describe my time in Nong Khai. I’ll start by saying that when we discern as a group some of the other team members for an Air BnB in a village that had a rice. So after a long time of travel there from Bangkok we met our host, Sarisa. As we were getting to know her and her son Joshua we realized that we were going to have a time where God was going to have my team encourage her in walking in her faith and that one way of doing that was by doing nice things for her like washing dishes, shoveling dirt. It was a great experience.
Another example of how we blessed her was because we prayed for her and invited her to the daily Bible study my team does on a daily basis and we all were excited because she knew a lot of English. All of us wanted her to feel like she was apart of our team during that time. I’m excited to hear about how she carries Jesus throughout that community and teaches people Jesus there.
We also were able to help her out with her son, Joshua who is a two and a half years old. He is a boy that loves to run around their house and he is filled with a lot of laughter. Sometimes when I was feeling tired, just hearing his joy would wake me up and make me want to join him. God then reminded me during that time, “Daniel the way Joshua is playing and having a lot of joy in the house is what I want you to have on a daily basis, I want you to have a trust and laughter at everything you do and to not worry about the details.” Then I said to God, “I will try to always show that laughter in all that I do.” This is how I want everyday to be like, not impatient and uncertain, but filled with trust and patience.
In the end, I’m glad that I’ve gotten to go on this World Race journey and I’m excited for the rest of the breakthrough that I’ll get with trusting God’s decisions in everything that I do. I’m excited to share that joy with others and encourage those that seek impatience by showing them how I overcame it. God is good and always helps His children
