Last week on Thursday (3/28) my team arrived at Ocean’s Edge in Jaco Costa Rica! Ocean’s Edge is currently under construction. It is exciting to see how much process they are accomplishing just with in one week. This past week, a youth group from Santa Cruz California came and helped out with Ocean’s Edge. We all helped with odd jobs helping around the property. The youth group helped out laying grass down. It is exciting to see the beautiful grass. In the morning on Friday (3/29) my team helped moving furniture and moving things around the property. In the afternoon we went out and prayed for the town. On Saturday (3/30) my team and the youth group team helped out at a community center. We helped out by playing games with the kids and helping out with the skate board competition. On Sunday (3/31) both teams went to Horizon Church! I loved going to Horizon church. Horizon is an English speaking church. Erin B, Lauren, and I helped out in Sunday School we were in the 7 to 11 age group. It was enjoyable and interesting. The day before Sarah from Ocean’s Edge warned us to keep an eye out for children running out of the Sunday School. Sure enough I chased after one of the kids to encourage him to go back to the classroom. It was challenging but good. On Monday (4/1) was my teams off day. A bunch of us went to the beach to attempt to learn how to surf. It was enjoyable and interesting. I knew going into it standing on the surf board would have been a challenge. It still was enjoyable. On Tuesday (4/2) in the afternoon I helped out moving and washing rocks and making the place look nice. On Wednesday (4/3) part of my team and I helped cleaning around Horizon Church. We stayed and went to their prayer group. It was enjoyable to go and to be part of it. On Thursday (4/4) Erin L, Lauren, and I helped out at a Spanish Church that is near by Ocean’s Edge. We helped out by cleaning the Sunday School classrooms and the kitchen. It was peaceful and enjoyable. My team had the morning off on Friday (4/5). Sarah and I took a walk on the beach. We went and explored around by the rocks. It was so beautiful and peaceful. In the afternoon my team got the opportunity to pray for some of the families who are part of surf club. Part of my team helped out at surf club by keeping an eye for everyone who is the water. After the kids were done surfing I helped out by cooking hot dogs for the kids. Some of my teammates helped out by being in a skit. It was enjoyable helping out. I am excited to see how God continues to use me and my team for the next 3 weeks!
