Here are a few things that I have really been learning since being here in Ethiopia. Some of them are fun and some are more serious.
1.Hot showers are a blessing
I have been lucky to take one hot shower since being here. They are cold showers but its only really the first initial shock of the coldness. Other than that they really aren’t bad. They are great when you come inside from spending the day in the hot sun.
2.Living on an orphanage is such a different experience
Living on an orphanage with 32 kids is something that I didn’t ever think I’d experience. It is hard at times to be constantly surrounded with kids but it’s great. Getting the option to play with kids whenever we want is really fun. It’s hard though when you just wanna have a little alone time but you can’t because sometimes there are always kids around. It’s a lot of fun though and I wouldn’t want it any different.
3.Popcorn is such a great snack
Since we are in an area where their isn’t much near us expect for the town next to the base. Popcorn is a very popular snack that we are able to get. When you get the popcorn it’s just the kernels and you have to actually make it. When we make popcorn here we usually put salt and sugar on it and sometimes we will always put chocolate syrup on it.
4. Airdropping movies
Who knew that this would be such a great thing. If you have an apple product you have the ability to airdrop things to each other and since being here in Africa we have been airdropping each other movies. It is such a helpful tool, since there isn’t much to do sometimes so I’ll just sit and watch some movies and I have seen a lot of new movies that I’ve never seen before.
5. Really pressing into the Lord
Like I have mentioned that there are sometimes where there isn’t much to do, that is a perfect time to spend more time with the Lord. I have been really trying to press into the word and to really listen for the voice of the Lord. I have been trying to be more intentional with how I spend my time with the Lord. I don’t want it to be like a check list thing I want it to be something that I really enjoy doing.
