PSA: I am doing fine now
This week I started the week out by being sick. I usually don’t ever get sick when I do expect for like common cold. Being sick while out of the states is not fun. First off when I am sick I like to just stay in my bed and binge watch Grey’s Anatomy. (I am way too invested in that show) I also like to either have a speedWay slushy or a Starbucks tea. Now as you have probably figured I don’t have access to any of those things so how did I do with being sick without those things.
Well I had to miss 4 days of ministry so what I did when my team was gone at ministry is sleep, I actually slept a lot. I watched some movies I literally watched almost all of the fast and furious movies but I would usually fall asleep during the movie. I would listen to music and fall asleep to that. I have mainly just stayed in bed and not really done much. I usually only go outside of our room during meals, I will eat and then pretty much once I am done I will go right back to bed. I am trying to recover as soon as possible because if you sick for more than 48 hours then you have to go to the doctor. And if I were to go to the doctor I would most likely be diagnosed with a virus or a common cold. I also wouldn’t even be able to get into much contact with my mom since we just communicate through email which I don’t think would be the best way to tell her I went to the hospital.
Since I ended up being sick for more than 48 hours, I had to go to the hospital to figure out what was wrong and I was diagnosed with a cough and dehydration. The doctor wasn’t that bad, the hardest part was that we had to translate a lot of things since the doctor didn’t speak much English. Also when they called my name I couldn’t understand what they were saying but we figured it out. I went to the doctor with my team leader, so that made it easier since she knows more spanish that I do.
I was able to contact my older sister who was able to get in contact with my mom. Everyone who needed to be contacted which was literally just my mom, was contacted. I am starting to feel better. I have been put on 2 different kinds of medicine, one of them is for my cough and then the other one is for my dehydration. I would not recommend getting dehydrated while being away from home. This is probably the worst I have been sick in the past 5 years, mainly because I have been having almost constant headaches almost all of the time. Which is pretty bad like I had days where I couldn’t even stand up for more than 5 minutes because they were so bad. That was mainly when I was first getting sick but I am doing better now. They are starting to slowly get better. I have been drinking water and this other drink that the doctor gave me for my dehydration. I have also been drinking a lot of gatorade because if I am being honest I don’t even really like to drink water to begin with. I am really weird where like I buy FIJI water and I only really drink the water at my house. For some reason I also like Ice cold water which isn’t even good for you, you are suppose to drink room temperature water. I read like an article on that but I don’t even know how true that is.
The thing that I have learned throughout this time is that it doesn’t matter if don’t like the water or whatever. You must drink water to stay hydrated and avoid going to the doctor. I will now being drink water like a lifeline because I am not going to get dehydrated again.
