Six months, y’all. SIX. MONTHS.

Six months left to prepare. Six months to get all my immunizations. Six months left to get a solid base of prayer partners. Six months left to raise $19,200. Six months left to figure out who will take care of my taxes and everything while I’m away. Six months, people.

To say this realization hit me like a ton of bricks is an understatement. For a moment I went into serious panic mode. But, I’ve gotta be honest, I’m about 100 times more excited than nervous. Of course, I could work myself up about all that is left to do (trust me, I easily could) but, as long as I remain focused on God and the steps I need to tak, the excitement will always outweigh the nerves. That being said, please pray that I do continue to remain focused.

Now for something completely different. I promised a report on Peru! I went in the beginning of October and the trip was definitely affirmation that this is what God is calling me to in this season of life. My group went in with the intention of teaching and bringing needed medical supplies. While we did all that, what I really took away surprised me.

My trip to Peru wasn’t super exciting. It was just me living life in another country for about a week and sharing with my brothers and sisters in Peru just like I would in my home church. Not being excited over every single thing was huge to me because it showed that my desire to reach those others may not be able to isn’t just about the excitement of travel or patting myself on the back – it really is a call from God. I hope that makes sense!

At the same time, what felt like everyday life to me was something special to the Ashenika people we met. On our last day, the association’s leader – Alfredo – thanked us for coming and asked us to pray that more people would come to share God’s word with them. I realized that our humble teaching over two days had the same effect for them that a huge conference would for me. Every follower of Christ in every corner of the world needs to remember they’re not alone in their faith from time to time – even Elijah needed God to tell him that he wasn’t the only faithful follower on Earth!

Overall, it was an amazing experience and one that just made me even MORE excited for the World Race!
