Hello! This is the riveting portion of my blog where you get to learn all about me. In all honesty, these kind of posts get me all turned around. What should I say? What does everyone REALLY need to know about me? Do they care that I always prefer to drink through a straw? Well, even if you didn’t, now you know. I’ll endeavor to make the rest of the info you get more on topic.
First things first. My name’s Cassandra! Some people call me Cassy (always ‘y’ – never ‘ie’), though it makes my mom cringe. I’m 27 years old and will turn 28 on the first month of the Race. Here’s hoping there’s good cake in Nicaragua! My time lately has been consumed with three things: finally finishing my AA degree, being director of Women’s Ministry at my church, and working on an EP with my band, 3 O’Clock Rain.
My life, like everyone’s, has been as series of ups and downs. I grew up in a Christian home and came to Christ at a young age. All my life I have been doing church – but in teenaged years I was much more about fitting a role than having a relationship. This time lead to the DOWNEST of downs. I was a wreck. Thankfully God kept His hand of protection over me, and I have come out more in awe of and in love with Him than ever.
Because of all my mistakes, I have such a desire to see those I love NOT fall into them. The Spirit has gifted me with prophecy and teaching – though some times I know people would prefer I keep my mouth shut. I try to be tactful and have grace, but it doesn’t always work.
If there is one thing I hope to gain from this trip it is a greater boldness and integrity in my walk. I don’t ever want to live a life of hypocrisy again. I want Jesus to have control of every piece of me and I’m believing that living almost a full year completely relying on God out of necessity will teach me this habit.
