As I approach a goal I have worked long to reach, my mind keeps circulating back to a specific phrase: “A goal should scare you a little and excite you a lot.” In 10 days I will graduate college; a goal I am elated to check off the list. I frequently hear my peers talk about their fear of the future and the unending nerves that accompany this season of life. Sometimes, I’m right there alongside them. Then God gets ahold of my conscience and shakes me until I come to my senses.
“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Throughout my World Race journey, one question seems to be at the tip of everyone’s tongue: “Are you nervous?” The answer remains, “Of course I am, but not nearly as nervous as everyone else seems to think I should be.” I’ve learned to embody the idea of Let Go and Let God in this process. I hope some of you can take this wholesome, simple advice and run with it as well.
Three months from today, my World Race launch begins. My emotions are running rampant, but I have always heard if you wait until you’re completely ready, you’ll be waiting the rest of your life. Now is as good of time as any to chase your passion in full pursuit. Luckily, my passion is Jesus and the Race is one of many ways I’m choosing to run after Him.
I’m here to emphasize an important message I think is applicable to many:
“Be scared and do it anyway.”
I’m far more excited about the abounding opportunities the Race will provide than I am fearful. My God has got my back, and He has got yours in this season of life as well. Go forth without fear, my friends.
Much love,
Carley
