Wow, if you would have asked me three years ago what I was going to be doing today October 25th, 2018 I would have never thought my answer would be getting ready to go on a three month mission trip to Africa. I probably would have told you I was going to be a freshman in college getting a degree to become a surgeon. But you see God had a different plan for my life.
This past summer I have been getting so involved with the youth at my Church. I also have grown super close to my now best friend Keia who has actually been on World Race: Gap Year before. We got to talking about her trip and I soon realized that the Lord was calling me to go and do something like that. I mentioned it to my parents and they were not very happy about the fact that I was going to be gone for three months but after a lot of prayer they have come around and accepted that fact that I would be gone for that long.
Of course it was and still is kind of scary that I will be gone for three months but I have to rely on God. I have to trust in him, in Deuteronomy 31:8 it says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail nor abandon you.” This verse reminds me that God is always with me wherever I go and I don’t need to be worried because he will take care of all my needs.
It is such a blessing to be able to talk with my teammates already and I can’t wait to meet them in person! They all love Jesus so much and I can’t wait to experience Africa with them.
If you don’t mind joining me in prayer for the trip, fundraising, and my teammates that would be much appreciated!
Blessings,
Carlee Persinger
