Hello All,
My team and I have only been in Zimbabwe for six days now, and God has already been nothing but incrediblyfaithful to us during this transition. Here are some of the beautiful little things we have been experiencing from the one who knows what we need exactly when we need it.
OUR VERSE
The place we were supposed to stay changed three times before we finally were able to make ourselves at home. After getting settled into our little house that we were not sure about, a wooden sign that has our team verse on it was sitting in the windowsill of our bedroom. Our verse isMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may OVERFLOW with hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit – Romans 15:13
OUR NAME
Throughout the week, the word “Overflow” was said so much- so much that it was almost creepy (haha). We pointed it out to our host, Susan, and by the end of the week she said “okay, this is freaking me out now” after she starting realizing how much the word was being said in songs, prayers, bible verses, and random conversations. We took that as a sign that we’re doing exactly what God wants our team to be doing.
SKIT
The first day we started ministry, we were asked if we had a skit that we could teach them to share in the high schools in the following week. At the end of the month is South Africa, we were taught how to do a powerful skit called the Everything Skit. We were taught this by a staff member at Impact just incase we needed to do something fun throughout the race. We were prepared very well.
OUTREACH
Our ministry in South Africa was door to door evangelism. Team overflow was getting a little frustrated with that, as we were the only team doing it every single day. We powered through it, and made the best of it though. Ironically (or by total orchestration of God), we were asked to teach on Evangelism. We probably wouldn’t have been able to do that if we hadn’t had a whole month of practicing it.
LESSONS
It’s been a common thing this week for our team to be asked to do a program or teach. It’s been really awesome and funny though because we keep getting asked basically 5 minutes before we have to do it. Every time we speak, we use what we were taught in South Africa at Impact and we let the Holy Spirit work through us to add anything else that needs to be spoken.
LISTENING PRAYER
Hals received a listening prayer at Impact, and it didn’t really relate to her. She didn’t know what it was for but kept it tucked away in her bible just in case. But on Sunday when we were doing a church service for the ladies at the boarding school, she remembered the written prayer and her heart started beating so fast. She knew it was a sign from the Lord to share it with the women.
LIES HAVE NO POWER
At impact, us women practiced differentiating lies and truths about ourselves. We were able to speak life into about 100 women casting out the lies and speaking out the truth. We shared what it looks like/how to come alongside friends and speak life into their truths as well.
MY STORY MATTERS
Last month one of the most difficult things for me to overcome, was me sharing my testimony to strangers. On Tuesday, I will be sharing my story with a couple schools.
You may read this and not think its not God. That it’s just a coincidence. But we (as a team) are allowing the little things to be God, as well. Team Overflow and I are excited for what the rest of Zimbabwe is going to bring us. Thank you for taking the time to read some of the things that put smiles on our faces.
Because They Haven’t Heard,
Calla Rae
