Well guys I’m back! As many of you know I was in Gainesville, Georgia for a 10 day training for the world race. Wow what a crazy 10 days it was, I learned a lot, laughed a lot, and to be honest cried a lot. While at camp I met all 38 of my amazing squad mates that I will be spending the next 11 months with, and when I say amazing I truly mean AMAZING. Each one of my squad mates has a story of how they ended up coming on the world race and what their lives have looked like up until now. I loved getting to know everyone and am so excited to live in community with each and every one of them.

We had SO many sessions every day where we learned about so many different things, we learned about forgiveness, the holly spirit, and different cultures. There is so much information that I’ve taken away that I will be bringing with me on the trip.

Guys did I forget to mention that all this time I was sleeping in a tent? Did I also forget to mention that the first 4 days of camp it was pouring rain! Yes myself and my things all did get a tad wet, but hey that’s gonna happen when your living out of a bag sleeping in the woods in a tent, amiright. Many of us decided to not bring out sleeping bags because of the nice warm Georgia weather and boy was that a mistake. I would wake up in the middle of the night freezing my butt off with my tiny little sheet I had, safe to say I learned the hard way to make sure to bring your sleeping bag.

Each day of camp was themed around a country and that was including our meals. some days we got chicken curry and rice and had to eat with our hands and other days that meant we got crickets and a thousand year old preserved duck egg. I tried most of the foods and a lot of them were really good but some were not my fav (cough cough banana rice).

On the last full day we had squad wars and guess what WE WON!!! We had multiples games/challenges we had to do which were super fun and finished off with a dance competition which led us to victory! After squad wars we were given the opportunity to do baptisms and SO many people chose to be baptized, it was beautiful to see and experience this with so many people.

I am home for about a month now before I launch out to South Africa but I still need help fundraising. I need to raise $3,815 before July 18th to be able to launch with my squad. If you would consider donating that would mean SO much to me. Just click the orange DONATE! button at the top of this page to make a tax deductible donation.

Much love,

Brieanne
