“The Lord had said to Abraham, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” (Gen. 12:1-2)
So get this, A man named Abraham, who had never heard about God was to leave, his family, friends and job to go to a place where he had never been before. It goes on to say, “So Abraham went, as the Lord had told him“(Gen 12:4.) When I think of obedience, I always instantly think of this story. He just went, he did not ask a single question. Before I paid my down payment for this trip I spent a lot of time thinking about Abraham. A man, who had no idea of who God was or what He brings, dropped everything to obey Him. I know God has called me to missions and I am completely in love with that. I know God and what He has done for me and what He continues to do daily. I have learned that God is going to call me to do some challenging things, that will require leaving what I’m comfortable with and putting me places where I might not be as comfortable but being obedient to God isn’t about what I’m comfortable with or what will bring me this or that. Being obedient to God is about trusting in Him and completely surrendering yourself to the fact that the one who created you, is calling you to more than you’re doing now. It’s about doing His will, His way for His glory. Its not about me going to Africa, its about Him using me to expand His kingdom. So it might be a little hard or uncomfortable for me to leave home for 3 months but this is not my real home. My home is Heaven, and i am just obeying the one who put me here. I know that doing what God has asked me to do is going to be life changing and I can’t wait to see how he uses me.
