**So sorry for being a little M.I.A the past month, many people have asked where I have been, the past month has been full of being intentional and present. In order to do this I did a phone fast which included having access to the internet and posting on social media. Because of that I have a lot of catching up to do, so here it goes. Month two crammed in too few of words:

Month two looked much differently than month one for my team and I including, Ministry, housing and relationships. Transitioning from a small island to a big city was quite the adjustment. Adventures in Missions has a base in San José that we stayed at while partnering with a local ministry called Conexion. Everyday looked a little different than the one before, some of my favorite ministry days included children’s ministry within different schools, medical clinics for refugee, prison ministry and more.

Children’s recreation:

Multiple times a week we were able to be in local schools setting up day camps for kids. We ran different games and stations with the kids like 9 square, hula hoop games, bouncy house, trampoline, parachute, obstacle course, etc. Our team was in around 10 schools during our stay in San José, through this we were able to experience all different atmospheres and living conditions.

Medical clinics:

We were able to do a few different medical clinics during our time in San José, one of which was a clinic for Nicaraguan refugees that fled to Costa Rica during the political crisis. This was one of the many ways I’ve watched the Lord’s perfect timing on display during our trip. I think that one of the reasons why this day was so impactful for me was because of where we had been the month prior. Having been in Nicaragua and hearing so many of the peoples stories it was interesting to come to Costa Rica and watch those pieces all come together. The refugees were able to receive dental cleanings, general medical care, health assessments/nutritional information and some were even able to receive mild surgeries on site.

Prison Ministry

We were able to go into the women’s prison for two of our ministry days which were two of my favorite days. We had four groups total that we got to hang out with, I have never seen a group of women more amped for Zumba! This was a chance for the inmates to have some recreation time that they aren’t always used to along with getting to worship together and receive prayer. (Stay tuned for a separate blog about these two days and my heart for them)

When I look back on San José I think of the word full. I was pondering why I keep getting this word and it forced me to reflect, maybe I get the word full because of long ministry days, or maybe because of all the food we ate (only partially kidding), or maybe because of all the life I got to experience this month. The month was FULL of life. It wasn’t full of life because our schedules were booked, or because of all the rice, it was full because the Lord’s hand was all over it. I was not only recognizing Christ in the people around me but Christ in me, and when He’s in you, you feel pretty darn full.
