We get lots of questions about vaccinations for the Race. Here’s the thing though – we’re not medical professionals, and we aren’t qualified to give medical recommendations.

BUT, we have a couple of great resources to help you figure it out:

  1. Center for Disease control website (www.cdc.gov)

    1. There’s a Traveler’s Information section where you can select each country you’re going to and it will pull a list of all the recommended and/or required vaccines

    2. If any vaccines are listed as required, you must receive those ones (you know, because you need to be able to actually get into the countries on your route!)

  2. A Travel Doctor in your area

    1. They will be able to go through your country list and talk through which vaccines would be best for you to receive

    2. Aside from required vaccines, the decision to receive a particular vaccine is ultimately up to you and your doctor

On your profile:

Once you have decided which vaccines you are receiving, please fill out the Vaccinations Received box at the bottom of the Medical tab on your Adventures profile. If you choose not to receive any vaccines, put “none” or “n/a” in this box.

Fevers and Diseases and Infections! Oh my!

Protect yourself from these big, scary monsters.

We are not doctors and have no medical training so we are not qualified from a medical perspective to say that you should or should not get certain shots.

What you need to do is visit the Center for Disease Control website to learn more about vaccinations you might need to get for the Race.  Click on the link below to search for the countries that are on your Race route.

You MUST get any vaccinations that are BOLD and listed as required.

You also have the option of going to see a travel doctor.  They can get you set up with everything that you need to keep you healthy on the Race.

Also, take note: Some countries require a Yellow Fever Certificate to enter or cross their borders, so pay particular attention to that.

* For Expedition Routes  we require the Yellow Fever vaccine regardless of the route. Because we are fluid and our country list changes frequently and additions happen
