WE’RE REALLY DOING THIS.
We have officially made it to Erdenet in Mongolia. After a 56 hour journey, we arrived at 11pm to our adorable apartment. Although, that very night I felt all the emotions. I was overwhelmed, exhausted, nervous, and slightly homesick. I am 6,715 miles away from home and for some reason all the tears came flowing down onto my marmot sleeping bag.
Our journey began when we left the hotel in Atlanta at 3:45am. We then had our first flight to New York where we then had a 16 hour layover. The layover was SO fun but left us tired and ready to sleep. Our next flight from the JFK airport left at 2:30am and was supposed to go straight to Beijing but we had some weather issues and flew into Shenyang. We sat there for about 2 hours then took off for Beijing. We made our next flight to Mongolia right on time- making our gate as it was boarding. We then flew into Mongolia and immediately hopped on a bus that took us to a bus station where we had an 8 hour bus ride to Erdenet. BUT WE MADE IT. Through all the emotions, we did it. We get to do this and we are so excited to see how God uses us. We will be teaching English 5 days a week which I am PUMPED for. We get to love on the people here in Erdenet.
Erdenet is a pretty small town. It is only about 1 mile long. There are markets where we get our food and we get to cook it at an adorable coffee shop. The Lord has already comforted me so much just in the last 12 hours. I know he has his arms wrapped around me. He is my dwelling place. He is beside me every step of the way. It is still hitting me that we’re really doing this. We are here and we are being present in whatever the Lord puts in front of us.
