Routine has the potential of dreading and not looking forward to what you do. How do we fix that? How does one make routine enjoyable?
Being in Lesotho has been a dream. If you wake up early enough you get to feel the breeze on your face, the birds chirping, goats off into the distance and the smell of Italian roast coffee.
I don’t know when I’ll get to WiFi to post this, but we’re currently in week three of routine. I don’t dread ministry, but if I’m being honest there are days when I don’t feel like getting up and doing our morning walk, or going to a different village to ask the same interview questions.
I’m getting tired. Not physically or spiritually, but mentally exhausted of 24/7 community living, of church services I don’t understand, of being stared at because of my skin, never being able to find 5 minutes of peace and quiet to myself…I’m tired. We have around 38 days and it feels like the longest leg of the race.
So how do I make routine something to look forward to? Do something different in what you do each day. For me, I like asking weird and challenging questions to my teammates on our walks to the villages, or asking the person we’re interviewing how they met their spouse. And then I also make plans to do something I love after ministry, or after work; so I have something to look forward to as well.
I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to read my blogs. I appreciate you so much and I love you! Thank you for your support and your prayers. They mean the world to me. I always accept prayer. Know that I am doing well and pushing on; fully receiving all that the Lord has for me with these last weeks of the race. See you soon…
