Tree of Life: Moringa Tree
During these past two weeks, several us from our squad have had the incredible experience to work on the moringa project. Our ministry host Scott has praying over these past six years to bring this moringa project into fruition. At our camp, Scott has had the to idea to take the moringa trees on the land and harvest them for the locals as a source of extra nutrients.
Before we begin, you may be curious as to why this is a big deal. The moringa tree is a tree around the world that has amazing medicinal and nutritional properties. Many people call this tree a tree of life. This tree is used to lower high blood pressure, work with people who are diabetic, and provide people with an extra source of nutrients for those who need it. This tree is very high in calcium, iron, and magnesium. Everything from this tree can be used. Even the seeds are used as a water purifier. These are just a few examples. If you want to know about this tree use the enclosed link.

Scott gave us the idea and what he looking for and left the rest of us to fine tune this project. Our team spent many hours of researching and praying on how this project should look. We finally came up with a design for a drying rack that allowed air flow to prevent mold growth and allowed natural drying to occur. We created an instructional video for the process- how to harvest the leaves, hang them, proper way to sort the seeds, and how to grind the leaves to make capsules. It has been awesome to see this whole process come together!
One other thing is we needed to de-shell the seeds. Several members of our squad helped with the mundane task of taking off the shells and separating the seeds. Even though this was slow and tedious, here is where I saw God working the most. Due to the low key environment, squad members were able to have in-depth conversations and see how God was working in their lives.
This project was a great way to see how God works miracles everyday.
It has been an neat experience to see a project from start to finish. Now As i head to the Costa Rica, I am looking forward to see what God is going to do.
