Cookies, Cakes, Laughter and God

Hi,

Hope you are enjoying your day and its full of laughter and joy.  If not, this blog post might provide you with some much-needed relief. This past month life has been crazy, but God provided so much.

I wanted to share an update with you. Thank you for all the donations. They have made it possible for me to go in June. I am currently close to $12,000, which means I have surpassed the goal of $10,000. Which means, thanks to everyone, I will be leaving for sure in June!! Yeah!

Now there is only $7,000 to raise to be completely funded. It’s insane to think, that a couple months ago, was barely close to $5,000. Now look what God has done. Another great update, I won’t be going to Guatemala in June, but instead God is veering our group towards Panama.

Okay Updates are done for now, so here is a story full of laughter to brighten your day.

Several of my friends decided that God was calling them to put on a bake sale to help raise funds for my trip. Stephanie, Patty, Julie, Retta, and Betsy joined together and hashed out who was doing what. As they looked at recipes; Stephanie found a recipe to make recess peanut butter cake.  What a cake!  When the cake was ready made and ready to go in the oven… Guess what? As Stephanie moved the cake, the weight of the cake bent the aluminum pan and it dumped all over her the floor. “She was a little surprised, but praised God that the cake missed her shoes.” Everyone just laughed at the mess the cake made all over the floor. We can relate to that, right.  Over the next couple of days, everyone was making cake, cookies, and deserts till the wee hours in the morning. That is some dedication: an all-nighter for baking. The last all-nighter, I pulled was for college. Throughout the night, they sang, joined each other in laughter and nonsense and gave thanks to God.

Now God told Betsy to do a bake sale at a local business in town. Little did they know, what God had in store for them.

Friday morning, Satan was attacked them so hard, with stomach aches, back pain, and just physical discomfort.  They got together and prayed for this morning to go well. As they were praying, they told Satan” Not today.” After their prayed, they went on their way to the back sale. When they got to the bake sale, God answered their prayers. Their discomfort was gone.  Praise God. They started to sell the bake sale items right before they walked out the door. The neighbor saw what they made. She purchased a couple pieces right on the spot. Throughout the day, people came out of the wood works to see what they were selling. The Police, Fire department, and ambulance flashed lights and sirens as they drove by. This provided the group with lots of energy and encouragement.

A gentleman came and handed them a $ 50.00 bill. When they received this bill, the group thought he made a mistake and would like his change. He said,” God laid this on my heart to give to you.”  People where coming out of the wood work to help sponsor or donate to raise funds for my trip. Several people where prayed for and told about God’s love. People where so excited to see their awesome faces. Semis were honking, and cars were stopping left and right. God was providing all the way through this bake sale. In total my friends raised over $400+ towards my mission trip in June.

They were all excited to tell me the great news. Just bouncing off the ways like a Kids in a Candy Store.  It made my day. Just to know that God works in incredible ways and through people. He provides exactly what we need at the right time and the right place. As you finish reading this story, hopefully you can picture the laughter and joy that God brought to everyone that day.

Jeremiah 29:11 ““For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me. I will listen to you; you will seek me and find me when you seek me with your hole heart.”
