Hello to all,
Where has the time gone? Can you believe it that it is already December. This year has been traveling at the speed of light. One moment you blink and the next thing you know another year has passed, right before our eyes. As December is here, you may be out trying to find the greatest gift, or trying to complete your last minute Christmas Shopping. We see rows and rows of decorations, Christmas trees, lights, and what you need for Christmas. This season tends to stress me out the most, as I tend to get overwhelmed at shopping or the very idea of Christmas shopping. Let’s be honest, you can ask my family, but I despise shopping in general. I am a person who gets what i need and them I am out. Nothing against those who love to shop, I am glad there are people like you out there.
As you are shopping this year, I am asking you this question, what do you really need? It is sometimes this year we loss track of the things in life that matter the most. I know I am just as guilty as the next person, so focused on what is right in front of me, I tend to loose site of the things that really matter.
To find out what really matters lets go back in time to the when the Gospel of Luke was written. Luke 1: 26-35 ” In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary,a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel wen to her and said, ” Greetings you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her,” Do not be afraid. Mary you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son , and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever: his Kingdom will never end.” ” How will this be, “Mary asked the angel, ” since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, ” The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of GOD.” Luke 2: 4-7 continues the story. ” So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem, the town of David, because he belonged to the house and the line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manager, because there was no room for them in an inn.”
It was on that very night, GOD gave us his son. In my eye Christmas time is a time for celebration, a time to share with those you love most. It’s a time for joy, and a time for love. Its a reminder that we don’t have to worry about finding the greatest gift to place under the tree. God gave us his son so that he may die on the cross for us and take away our sins. We already have the best gift available.
As you celebrate Christmas this year, I wanted to wish many blessing in your way. I pray for your families, and for God to bless you with so much this year. May he remind you that we don’t need the best thing out there, we already have it. May he protect your family and may he give you rest during this season.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
