This past month of July, Team Torch and Team Deepa were in Lira, Uganda, working alongside the ministry, Lightforce.

There were 12 of us from Sojourners Squad that were ministering together last month. There were 3 categories of ministry that we were assigned to: School, Community, and Manual Labor. I’ll give a quick description of each ministry.

//

For school ministry, this is where the group taught physical education to children ages 2-14 – basically, PE classes from morning until the end of the school day.

For community ministry (this is the group I am a part of this), we did everything from slashing people’s grass, hoeing their yards, filling up water jugs and carrying them back to the houses, shucking beans, corn and peanuts, meeting the families in the nearby villages, praying for healing and any other needs, and anything else that the community around Lightforce needed assistance with.

For manual labor ministry, this consisted of doing manual labor tasks around the compound that we were staying at. Things like: shoveling manure, moving dirt, helping build a fence, helping with the construction of the wells, etc..

Team Torch is now in Kenya and will be serving here for the month of August. Kenya ministry update coming soon – stay tuned.
