Let me tell you a story about Jesus and how He is working in the good country of Ethiopia:
When we were arriving to our new home, I was looking out of the window and my heart started pounding. I didn’t think much of it, but I just felt this overwhelming need to go to the village we were driving though. Our days look a lot like us doing manual labor in the morning and our afternoons are free. Most people in the afternoons spend time with God or playing with the kids. The whole time I’ve been here, I have felt this overwhelming need to leave and go to the village. I decided to try and see if I could go to village for my afternoon ministry and thanks to Jesus, I got to go and see why my heart was bursting for it.
Two days ago, I decided to go into the town and walk and pray for the people and the town. We did it for about an hour and I felt dumb because nothing happened, but I still had this overwhelming desire.
The next day, we decided to walk the opposite direction to a little hut village about a 20 minute walk away. The walk was insanely beautiful and so were the kids we met along the way. I was praying like crazy that something, anything would happen because I didn’t understand why I had this desire. We get to the village and we were met with more beautiful children and a woman, who eventually invited us into her hut. I got to see how her and her family lived and during that time, Jesus showed me why I was there: I was there to love on these people the way Jesus would!
He gave me all of these ideas. I could teach her, and maybe the people of this village English. I could share Jesus with them (they are orthodox, so they know who Jesus is, but they worship Mary at a higher level). I could play games with the kids, and so much more.
On the way back, Jesus spoke to me so clearly: He put that desire on my heart!!!He wants me to pour into that little hut village. He wants me to be His hands and feet there.
I’m not sure what will happen within these next 3 months with me and the beautiful people of the hut village. I would love and appreciate all of the prayers I could get. Prayers that I get to go back as much as I can and prayers that Jesus completely transforms that village!
God is so good y’all, and I still can’t believe that I get this opportunity to be His hands and feet!
