Hey y’all!!! I made it to Ethiopia!!! This place has exceeded all my expectations of what Africa is supposed to be like. We live in the middle of nowhere, we live with about 30 kids, and we are surrounded by mountains (yes my heart is exploding).
Time moves slow and life is so simple here, I LOVE IT.
Okay, enough about Ethiopia (that’s a blog for another time). Let me tell you what happened:
On Thursday, December 13th to be exact, me and 3 of my squad mates got to take the kids we live with on a mission trip, and it changed my life.
Around 8 o’clock in the morning, we piled on a bus and headed to a city called Waliso where we visited 3 orphanages. Our sole purpose was to supervise the kids and I had no idea what that was supposed to look like, I was just excited that I got to go.
We got to the first orphanage and we went into shack full of smiling faces. The kids stood in front of everyone and started singing worship songs and dancing and all I could see was God. God was shining through these kids. I’ve never seen Him that close before. After the kids sang, one of the House moms prayed and she prayed the most powerful prayer I have ever heard (and it wasn’t in English). It brought tears to my eyes. Her prayer could’ve literally moved a mountain. I left that orphanage changed.
We went to 2 more orphanages that day and God was moving more than I have ever seen Him move before. I wasn’t even doing anything besides watch the kids and somehow I found myself filled with a love and joy that I have never felt before.
I was overwhelmed by God and how He was literally speaking through every child in those orphanages. I saw God that day.
