When I was 13, the Lord called me to cross-cultural missions, and, oh, what a blessing it has been! One of our hosts explained a call to vocational ministry this way:
As Christians, the Bible tells us to put on the armor of God. “ Stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
In Greek, peace means oneness or wholeness. The gospel is the wholeness we obtain with God through faith in Jesus Christ, who paid the price for our sins! This wholeness with the Lord produces peace. The shoes are the protection we receive through the GOSPEL.
However, these shoes can sometimes cause pain. The bible also says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” What do these feet looks like? They are dirty, they are sore, they are full of blisters. Being a missionary, or being a christian in general, requires sacrifice and pain. I am learning that. But the shoes God has given me bring some dang good news around the world!
Fundraising has been a big part of this journey in my calling to missions. Years ago, when I began fundraising, I did not realize that this was going to be a lifelong journey. I had always assumed that I would be self sustainable on the mission field. As I am living with the missionaries surrounding me here in Peru and on my team, I am beginning to understand more fully that fundraising is a ministry in itself that I don’t want to miss out on. God speaks to His people through giving to missions. Have you ever felt God place a conviction or an amount on your heart that He wanted you to give to someone? Don’t you just feel the blessing of a closer intimacy with God when you cheerfully give?
Church, we are all different members of the body. God has called me to be the feet. But He has called you to missions, too. One form of missions is being the part of that body that sends. That can be in the form of tithes and offerings. If you would like to be a part of the ministry God has called me to pursue, please prayerfully consider becoming a monthly giver. The end of this year is not the end of what God has asked me to do abroad. Monthly giving can help prepare me to go out on the field again as soon as I become fully funded for the race! Consider these three amounts: $10, $25, $50. If you would like to become a monthly giver, start here ( there is a button on the site that will ask whether or not you are doing a one time gift or doing a monthly gift).
Guys, God has literally raised $14,892 so far for this incredible 11 month journey, and man is that insane!!! I’m understanding more and more about how sweet my Father is and the incredible amount of love he has for me. Fundraising is just one tangible example where I’m experiencing his faithfulness to the calling he has for me. I literally cannot thank each of you enough for taking the time to pray for me and financially support what I’m doing. I physically WOULD NOT be able to fulfill this calling without your obedience. So, thank you. Thank you for walking in obedience and trusting me with your giving.
