These past few weeks have been crazy- Crazy- CRAZY. As many of you know, the Lord has been asking me to wait on this work for a while, and now He is telling me to go running! My heart feels so full and ready to see all that the Father had me waiting on this year.
A little bit about our ministry here in Peru:
Our pastors names are David and Marita. They are wonderful. David just carries so much peace and wisdom. Marita is an amazing cook and is world renowned in her abilities to fill tummies (by other racers around the world… but still). They are pastoring a church in Lima called Iglesia Macedonia. They are a church that really lives out the Great Commision in missions. I have so enjoyed being a part of a church whose heart is so on fire for seeking the nations at proclaiming the Good News. This church has several “daughter” churches that they have planted in Peru. One is in Canta, Peru, close to where we are in Lima. We have gotten to visit that church twice so far to evangelize in the markets and do home visits. The Pastors there are a couple named Jorge and Zineth. They both have really amazing gifts in Evangelism in their community, which I have enjoyed being a part of. We will be going out to canta again some more over the next week and a half. They also found the Base Misionera Antiquia in Chuquibambilla, Peru- in the amazon jungle (la selva). That base is where we have spent the past week.
In Chuquibambilla, the community is an indigenious group who is also considered an unreached people group. The missionary couple we were with- Pablo and Belen- are the only christians in their community. From that base, there are several other church plants that have come to fruition within a few hours of them in the Jungle. We were able to learn from that couple and see some of the churches that Iglesia Macedonia have planted around the Base. The church at the base was mostly young adults and children, and we were able to build relationships with them and help teach in the services. We also were able to teach art/music classes each day (which I may have enjoyed more than anyone else).
There is a lot more that I could say about what we have been doing, but I will leave you with my highlight of the week: the Days for Girls Meeting. Our “Beauty for Ashes” coordinator (women’s ministry), Neicey, hosted a girls event teaching young girls about how to take care of their bodies and the beauty that we carry in the image of God, our Creator. It was so sweet. We were able to give them these little women’s hygiene kits in partnership with Days for Girls that they all really loved! https://www.daysforgirls.org
