Hey my people,
In this blog, I want to share a little more of my heart on fundraising. I want to start off by saying a million thank yous to every single person who has already invested in this mission. Thank you for having a “YES” in your spirit to partner alongside what God has called me to do. Thank you for believing in me. I will never have enough words to express my gratitude and I want you to know that I am beyond GRATEFUL. Little by little you’ve helped me overcome this fear of fundraising. Asking for money makes me uncomfortable but I acknowledge that without your support this entire season of my life wouldn’t be possible. Therefore, I want to give you a glimpse of the places and things your money has been able to do so far:
– Met Samir who was traveling from Egypt at a hostel in Cambodia. $5 allowed us to spend time with him on a bamboo train and a tuk-tuk where we shared the gospel.
– Our team visited the orphanage in Battambang and we spent $7 on a soccer ball and supplies to play with the kids. I was able to share the most amazing superhero story of JESUS with 7-8 kids.
– With $8 we were able to buy flowers for Mae Mon who tutors kids every weekend in her backyard. She taught English for over 30 years and is retired now. She didn’t just sit and relax but instead, she decided to make an impact in her community. We wanted her to feel loved and seen by Jesus.
– $10 allowed me to camp at a National Park in Rayong, Thailand for 2 nights. The first night I met Duck who was also camping. I was able to share Jesus with him through Google translate! He shared his story and told me he would visit a church.
– With $25 I was able to buy a bus ticket to get from Thailand to Malaysia where I would meet Soham and Pongkit. They both worked a Mango Smoothie Shop and I was able to create a relationship with them. I got to know their story and show them what it truly means to love people. We had so many conversations and Jesus was well known in several of them.
– Believe it or not but $150 allowed me to find a place to lay my head for an entire month in Asia!
– During our month in Indonesia, all the 18 guys of our squad did life together. We each get $5 a day for food. Multiple that by 30 days and then by 18 guys you get $2,700. That allowed us to buy food for the entire month. God had placed HOSTING on our hearts for that month so we cooked meals and invited locals. We had so many game nights, movie nights, and goofy nights but they were all filled with incredible conversations. Our Indonesian friends were open to hearing more about our stories and the gospel of Jesus. It was beautiful to see all that God did that month in the country with the single largest population of Muslims.
None of those moments would have been possible without you! You’ve paved the way with your generosity to moments like those and many more. You invested in the kingdom of God.
I can’t help but think about Paul. God chose Paul a man who once persecuted Jesus followers and turned him into a missionary!! Paul went from city to city, nation to nation telling others about the good news! No matter what happened, snake bites, sickness, being stoned and shipwrecks Paul never quit. He was always on the move. In Acts 13:47 he writes, “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” People around the world need Jesus. The ones at your coffee shop, workplaces, schools, in Malaysia, Indonesia, Botswana, Bulgaria, Ecuador and every nation of the world!
