After Thailand, we headed to Georgetown, Penang in Malaysia where we had a mini-debrief with our squad leaders. We digested and processed what the Lord had done in Thailand. It was a great time to catch up with the entire squad for a couple of days. All of our teams walk a different journey so being able to see the hand of God working across all of our lives is really encouraging. When I sit down and start remembering everything that the Lord did is when I’m left in awe of how great He is. As debrief was going on we only had a couple of days to ask the Lord where He wanted us to go next. We prayed, listened and when our team began to share what the Lord was saying it all came together like a puzzle. We had visions, dreams, and objects that led us to SINGAPORE. But why Singapore? That isn’t even in Malaysia.. It’s not a country on our route… It didn’t make sense but we planned and trusted that if God was calling us there, we were going.

What does that look like for you?

Full disclosure here (sideetrack). When I decide to trust in what God has for me I get fear and anxiety. I get it we’re humans and it’s totally normal but when I catch myself asking questions like “What if I fail?”, “What if it doesn’t work out?”, “Maybe I’m wrong?” Is when I pull the brakes. That is exactly what the enemy wants me to think but I’ve chosen to not hear his voice. The moment I feel like that is when I lift my eyes to heaven and ask God to strip away my fears (Psalm 34:4). I’ve learned that even when I fail Jesus is there… When I succeed He is also there. So what do I have to fear? NOTHING. Learning how to live out this promise of trusting Him isn’t easy but it sure is worth it. (Back on track) We spent our first days in Singapore doing worship and prayer on the rooftop of a parking deck and at the International House of Prayer seeking the Lord.

On Sunday we attended Every Nation Church and afterwards, we went out for lunch with friends we made. That’s when we met Ivy who works for the church and connected us with Willing Hearts. Willing Hearts is a non-profit organization that is wholly ran by volunteers. It operates a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes about 5,000 daily meals to over 40 locations all over Singapore, 365 days a year. Beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent families or otherwise poverty-stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore. We had asked the Lord to provide opportunities and He did so we trusted Him. We partnered with Willing Hearts where we spend time serving alongside the locals. Many of the usual volunteers had been doing it for years. It was so encouraging to see them serve their city/country with so much consistency and pride.

We did many different things such as washing large rice pots, vacuuming the rice cookers, cleaning the food carts, sorting dry goods into packages and packing bread into bags. It sounds like a lot but this organization does that and so much more every single day… Mind-blowing! Being in Singapore was a great reminder that even the wealthiest countries in the world have a need. I challenge you to trust the Lord and take pride in being the hands and feet of Jesus in your city.
