On Friday after ministry, our missionaries that we had worked with that day brought us to a hill on the outskirts of town so that we could pray over the entire city of Draganesti-Olt. You could see the whole city from the top of the hill, which was both amazing and surprising to me. We parked in a little gravel lot at the base of the hill, and when I got out of the car I saw three horses grazing in the field next to the lot. In Romania when a horse belongs to someone they chain them to a stake in their yard or field so that they can have a small radius to walk around and graze in, but not wander away. Naturally (i’m a bbiiiiggg horse girl for those of you who don’t know) my first instinct was to go right over to them, run my fingers through their manes, and give them affection. Immediately one of the missionaries told me that the horses here are meant for work only & that they would probably try to nip at me if I went up to them. Pondering that thought on my walk up the hill, it actually made me super sad to think that the horses are thought to be unworthy of love and affection because they are solely used for working and working only. Gazing out over Draganesti from the top of the hill, the horses made me think of the townspeople & their chains that they too are bound by. Always walking around in the same circle of sin all day long, haplessly wandering to try and find something that will finally satisfy. I was reminded of myself before I knew Jesus…stuck walking in the same unhealthy circle of sin & continuously searching for something more. As I was praying over the town God impressed the words “holy ground” on my heart. I started praying and declaring the simple prayer over the town “God thank you that this is holy ground now, this is your town.”

Our creator gives our words P O W E R, and not only do we have the power to declare holy ground within our own lives, but we also have the power to declare it over an entire town. I challenge you to walk up the hill with Abba, the chain breaker/miracle worker/way maker/light in the darkness & start declaring holy ground over your own life & also declare it on behalf of your brothers & sisters.

Thanks for reading:)
