Hello from Romania!
These past two weeks have been a serious whirlwind! From launch, to traveling, to getting into the swing of life here, I have definitely felt alllll of the feelings. Excited? Yep. Spiritual attack? Also yep. Overwhelmed? BIG yep. Homesick? Weirdly yeah. Culture shock? You bectcha. In the midst of all of these feelings I have also felt peace because the Lord is SO present and with us. Thanks God for not being distant.
For my first month on the race, myself along with two of my other squamates are partnering with one of the longterm missionaries here in Craiova & doing youth ministry with the local high schoolers. On our first day we jumped right into it by simply walking up to a group of 4 teenagers sitting on a bench and introducing ourselves. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous to just walk up and start a conversation with a group of teenagers…if you know me you know that doing something like that is WAY out of my comfort zone.
But hey, the Lord didn’t call us into comfort right?
Ever since then we have had the opportunity to get together with them multiple times, and they enjoy hanging out with us so much that they keep bringing more of their friends to meet us as well. They are hungry to learn about us, willing to share about their lives, and open to hearing new perspectives. They actually inspire me a lot because of their love and loyalty to one another. Our hangouts usually look like sitting in a park, going for a walk, listening to music, playing guitar, and even dancing like fools in the middle of a park. It has been a humbling and stretching first two weeks, and I am excited to see how these relationships cultivate!
How can you be praying?
-There is A LOT of spiritual darkness here, and a lot of the squad ( & myself) have really been feeling the weight of it.
-Encouragement for our ministry
-Unity & vulnerability within the squad
-Fundraising for those on my squad who are not yet fully funded
Thanks so much for reading! Stay tuned for more soon!
All the love,
Nikki
