In October of 2018, literally in the middle of the Amazon Jungle of Leticia, Colombia, I learned that there were actually more than three “wise men” that ventured out to welcome the newborn Messiah.. who actually.. was probably about 2 years old by the time they arrived. (Long travels, I understand it wise men, just grateful I get to travel by bus and not foot or camel)

Anyways, I was stunned.. fairly shocked.. and honestly a little confused.

I did not grow up going to Sunday school, or really have any sort of religious background whatsoever. I knew my family’s history in the church or their history of why they left the church. I had conversations with what I thought was “God” in my head when I was a child; although at that time they were more like challenges for Him to complete in my life.. you know.. kid prayers that really didn’t have much perspective

But don’t get me wrong, I LOVED Sundays. Sundays in our household were meant for sleeping in, eating donuts, drinking apple juice, and then typically spending the afternoon at Home Depot with Dad followed by some football on the couch at night. Sundays in our household were holy in their own way. So really the only number I knew about men being anywhere at that time were the number of players allowed on the field during a play.. and every Christmas, by the nativity photos Mom would have set up around the house, or the nativity sets she would have in the dining room.. ALL HAD THREE WISE MEN!

Fast forward 15 years later, and here I was, at 25 years old, learning that there were like.. a bunch of wise men that came to see the toddler Messiah. The result of this finding? I was challenged in a new perspective. I instantly wanted to dive into anything I ever thought was truth and find out.. was it really? Or had my perspective just not been challenged? I even sat at the table for lunch with my team in awe as they shared with me other stories and instances of the Bible that get a little twisty and not so accurate in today’s culture.

So what’s one thing that I’ve learned so far on this trip?

And challenging your perspective MATTERS.

If you have yet to read my previous blog, you may not know the news.

I have been given the opportunity to go back out for 5 months on the World Race as an Alumni Squad Leader! As I near closer to the end of my own race, I will share more details of what this means for me as a disciple. But until then, would you consider partnering with me financially and supporting me as transition from one chapter to the next? I am looking to fundraise $8000.00 and you can donate by clicking the ORANGE DONATE button on my main page! I am expectant of the ways the Lord is going to challenge my perspective again and again from now until December while I continue following His command to GO.

Also – I will be password protecting my blog site for the next few weeks, so if you would like access, I have posted the password below!
