Two full weeks.

We have been in Calama, Chile for two full weeks.

Only two weeks.

Time speeds past me nowadays, but I still cannot grasp the fact that less than a month ago I was in my comforts of Arizona walking around the Montessori with a coffee in my hand. The only different really now is that I’m at a Montessori in Chile, but don’t worry I still walk around with a cup of coffee in my hand! (Thank you Catherine) My Spanish language skills are growing daily, and today I spoke the most fluent Spanish that I think I have ever accomplished in my entire life! HUGE Shoutout to Señora Lopez at OEHS for always pushing and encouraging me to work harder at my language skills.

I have had the opportunity to speak to children as young as 6 years old all of the way to adults who have lived to see their grandchildren turn 6 years old. The message I speak is all the same. “God loves you, He wants to be in relationship with you, He has a path for you, He will help you, He is a good good father.”

In religion class, we are sharing testimonies. Over the course of the last few days, I have really dug into conversation with the Lord on the question “Dude, how in the world did You get me here?!”

I was a straight A student.

I was a taekwondo student.

I was a taekwondo instructor.

I was a teenager.

I was a high school graduate.

I was a college student.

I was a drop out.

I was an employee at a grocery store.

I was a taekwondo instructor…again.

I was a college student..again.

I was a preschool teacher.

I was free. I am free. I always will be free.

But..what is free?

Freedom is not just the capability and allowance to do as I please, freedom is release. It is the power to say NO to any and all lies about oneself. It is continual; freedom is not just a one time occurrence. It is a daily reminder that who we are today is not determined by ho we once were or who we are striving to be. Freedom is a daily gift to be used against chains around lies that are locked to your heart. Freedom is healing for the broken, it tears down walls and lifts us to our fullest potentials and purposes. Freedom is not a once in a lifetime moment that changing you, freedom is what we get to grab off of the counter every day as we open our eyes to any and all things that surround us.

What am I? I am free.
