Remember that time Brushed with Glory was deported a few weeks ago? We made our way to the Bolivian border, and were sent straight back to Chile, because, to be quite honest, the Lord didn’t want us in Bolivia. Wanna hear the whole story? Check out my blog Fourth Times a Charm (Maybe?).
So as promised, I’m bringing you an update of where the Lord brought Brushed with Glory for Month 10.
After spending a week in Calama, Chile with incredible World Race hosts, we came to the decision that God was asking us to spend some time in Cusco, Peru (Check out Living in Obedience to hear more about how we came to this decision). We have to be there for Mini-Debrief towards the end of October, so we figured that was a good place to start. We tossed around the idea of going to Brazil for a little while during the month as well.
When we got to Cusco, we were kind of living day by day until we heard from our Stateside leadership about whether or not Brazil would be an option. We were able to do some incredible ministry in Cusco, which helped us come to another decision. We spent a good portion of a day preparing food and giving it out to the homeless (and whoever else God asked us to). We got to have some team ministry time and got to love on some people in Starbucks. The Lord gave me an awesome opportunity for a conversation with a woman in Starbucks within hours of arriving in Cusco. Let’s be honest, I was stinky and tired because I had just taken a few buses from Calama to Cusco, and I just wanted a hot shower and a nap, but God had different plans for me that morning in being able to speak truth into this woman’s life.
After a few days in Cusco, my teammate Olivia had been in contact with Tim and Holly, a couple from the States that has been in Peru for the last few years. They live just outside of Cusco with their family, and have hosted a dozen World Race teams. They had wanted to host a team this month, but weren’t able to host the entire month, so what did God do? He had our team deported from Bolivia, get denied a few more times, and then sent us to Peru to do ATL. He put us in contact with a host that needed us for a little while, and gave us a flexible schedule. We have been able to partner with them for the last few days, and are staying with them until they head Stateside. We will be heading back to the heart of Cusco in about a week, after doing ATL and having a host for a week and a half.
We have spent time helping with construction, a yard sale put on by our hosts, and helping in a children’s home with kiddos under the age of three. I’m a little sunburnt, tan in other places and full of joy that only God can provide.
God has been extremely faithful this month in showing us exactly where He wants us. Month 10 has been nothing short of wild and awesome, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
(Side note: my phone is not working once again, and God is teaching me a whole bunch of things – a blog for another time.)
