Lots of sweet moments the past couple of weeks.

My team, except for Jenny, making about 100 grilled cheese sandwiches.

Here’s Jenny! She was busy making mochi at a local preschool in Ishinomaki.

Ariana accepted Christ into her life when she was in Ishinomaki a few years ago visiting this school. The earthquake and tsunami in 2011 destroyed the whole school. Because of confusion of the school’s protocol, there were few survivors.

The school was only about 30 miles from where we were staying in Ishinomaki. Unfortunately, it took about 5 hours to get there. The only transportation we didn’t take was horseback, I think. We took a train in the wrong direction, hopped on a bus, hiked a few miles, and yes, we hitchhiked. (My dad told me to say “yes” this year to adventure.)

When we realized we weren’t anywhere near the school, Susanna threw her arms in the air and asked God for help. We were on the edge of hysterical. A man popped out of a building and Sus ran up to him to ask if he knew how to get to the school. I would like to say that we got to know this man before we put our lives into his hands, but it only took us about 2 seconds to jump in his car.

He drove us and ended up walking around the school with us. Susanna got to tell him who we were and why we were in Japan. (Shout out to Sus who speaks Japanese!) If it was just me and Ari, I think we would have ended up in North Korea or something.

Here’s the sea wall that’s fun to run on! It’s freaking cold.

The best kind of night in Japan starts at the bath house and ends at Sushi Roll. Yes, a legit bath house with a bunch of naked women. It’s actually pretty cool because Japanese people are pretty closed off and don’t really open up to each other. The bath house is different. What’s more vulnerable than being naked in a hot tub with women. I’ll skip that picture.

Here’s sushi roll! There’s a tablet at each table where you can order food and it comes out on a conveyer belt past your table. As you can see here, I’m slipping into a food coma.

This night! The leadership team washed all of our feet on girl’s night. I’ve done this before, but things are making more sense about my Christian faith the older I get. Jesus came to serve us. This is probably the most humbling thought to me.

That’s all:) We are headed to Tokyo tomorrow and then Taipei, Taiwan on Monday!
