I can’t believe my 4 years at Auburn University have come to an end. It feels like only yesterday I was moving into my freshman dorm. I am so grateful the Lord lead me to Auburn and made it so clear that was where I needed to be. And He’s made the next step in my life clear as well. Still, moving out of my last Auburn apartment was hard, and I’ll miss it so much. So, here’s my goodbye to Auburn.
Dear Auburn,
4 years. It’s already been 4 years. I can’t believe my time as an Auburn student has come to an end. I can’t believe I’ll never go to class in Haley or watch a football game in the student section again. 4 amazing years. Thank you for all that you’ve given me. I came to Auburn as a sociology major knowing literally nobody. I was terrified, yet so excited. Thank you for taking care of me.
Thank you for academic advisors that make it easy to switch majors and calmed my nerves when 2 weeks into freshman year I decided to change my career path.
Thank you for the amazing social work program and the professors there. I learned so much from them, about my future career and about myself. They taught me what it truly means to be a social worker and to have a heart for the less fortunate, oppressed, and marginalized. I will forever be grateful for what I learned from them.
Thank you for all of the Auburn restaurants I’ll miss and crave this next year. Thank you for Toomer’s Lemonade, Tacorita Cheesy Chicken tacos, and MK’s fried rice.
Thank you for Auburn football. The stress of it might have taken a few years off of my life, but thank you for an Iron Bowl win my senior year and a chance to storm the field in Jordan-Hare. War Eagle! I’ll miss seeing the eagle fly every home game, but I’ll be back.
Thank you for giving me Sigma Kappa. Thank you for a strong, funny, wild group of women who helped push me and mold me. Thank you for recruitment cheers, winning pizza parties, socials, formals, chapters, and even ritual events. These women will always hold a special place in my heart.
Finally, thank you for the three best friends I could have asked for. Thank you for Camden, who will scream Disney songs at the top of her lungs with me, but also will always take my call when I need advice. Thank you for Sahar, who embraces being a night owl like me, can always make me laugh, and appreciates my twisted sense of humor. Thank you for Alexis, who is always genuine when she gives advice and can be both serious and hilarious depending on what I need. Thank you for late night cookout/sonic runs, spring break trips, flips at formal, and so many laughs with them. Thank you for friends who are authentic, ambitious, hilarious, and just all around amazing, God-loving women. (I’ll miss y’all the most).
Thank you for giving me the best 4 years of my life so far. Don’t miss me too much, I’ll be back, because I believe in Auburn, and love it!
Love, Mollie
