Hey guys! So here it is – me in a nutshell.
I was born in Charleston, West Virginia but moved to North Carolina at the ripe young age of 2 years old, where I have lived since. I grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and I just graduated from Wingate University, which is a tiny private school about 40 minutes east of Charlotte, NC.
Through my life, I’ve been blessed to receive constant love and support from my two wonderful parents, John & Beth. Whether I am laughing at them or with them, I get a good laugh every day I’m around them. They’ve spent their parenting lives doing all they can to show their three kids they love them. What a gift.
I was born as the second of the three and therefore suffer from middle child syndrome. There’s always that one unlucky child… just kidding. I have an older brother, Andrew, who is about 19 months older than me, and now married to the coolest person ever. I gained a friend and a sister when he married her. Awesome, right? I also have a younger sister, Katie, who is about four years younger than me. She’s hilarious, unique, and super artistic.
Originally, I chose Wingate because they offered me a soccer scholarship, but after tearing my ACL & meniscus twice in soccer games/practice, I was never able to actually play. God had different plans for me. Instead, I became a Young Life leader and have invested a large amount of my time and heart into that ministry over the past three years. I’ve seen God change and shape girl’s lives through Young Life and it’s only fueled my love and amazement for who God is.
After tearing my ACL my senior year of high school, I came to the realization that God is truly the only solid, constant, and never ending thing in life. So many situations are out of our control, but God is in control of them all. He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). The fact that God has revealed himself to me and has used my hardships to demonstrate even more of His beautiful unfailing love, is also out of my control. I realized that God chose me. I didn’t do anything to understand who God is. I just fell in love with who God was showing me He is. And that has totally changed my heart and mindset of life. It has freed me and secured me in abundant love. I have become a witness of the power of salvation through Jesus.
Now I love to do outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, kayaking, etc. Being in nature tends to give me a certain kind of peace. I feel so small and out of control, and I realize God is so vastly present in the beauty before me. I am excited to see God’s creation in all different parts of the world.
I would appreciate prayer for me in any way but here are a few specifics:
-
Boldness & wisdom in sharing the good news of Jesus.
-
Health: Physical, emotional, spiritual.
