This month has been a month where I felt like I lived out James 1:2 “My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy you can!”

Our month brought difficulties with some language barriers, being in a country during its hottest month, and learning a completely new culture. However, through all of this I have experienced some of the most joyous moments of my life!

Here are 11 things I have learned this month:

  1. It is possible to sweat more in one month than you have in your entire life
  2. Pure joy is never going to stop just because of circumstances
  3. Childlike Faith is contagious
  4. Bucket showers really aren’t that bad
  5. There are people in this world who have truly figured out how to love God and love others
  6. Hospitality can be a way a living if you really learn how to serve others well
  7. Don’t let traditions go because some are too beautiful to lose
  8. I can successfully learn to eat with my hands even if it’s not my dominant hand
  9. Thunderstorms are powerful and beautiful in every country
  10. It’s okay to love quickly
  11. Memories begin to fade over time. Write down every moment, emotion, and sensation to remember it forever
