World Race Q&A

What is World Race?

World Race is a program done through Adventures In Missions. AIM offers a variety of short term missions trips, including the World Race semesters (1-3 months), World Race Gap Year (9 months), and then The World Race (11 months)!

How many people are traveling in the group with you?

The good news is I won’t be going on this trip alone! I have an amazing squad of about 50 people from all over the country. We will travel as a squad to the different countries, and then be broken down into teams of 7-8 to serve in different areas of ministry.

How long will you be gone?

I’ll be gone for 11 months! I leave (launch) in January from the AIM headquarters in Georgia.

What route are you on?

I am on the January 2019 Route 3. We have since had a name change to S Squad!

What are you going to be doing? What type of outreaches?

Is this kids or adults focused?

In each country, what we will be doing could look different! Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, evangelism outreach, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for your team, and spending time praying for the community you walk through. Regardless of the pace or the activity, every day will be focused on being a part of God’s kingdom work!

How did you find out about the World Race?

I found out about the World Race through a friend of mine, Courtney, who went on the World Race a few years ago. Her experiences and stories that she’s shared with me, made me excited to look into it. Not long after that, I was praying and seeking God if the World Race was something for me!

What country are you most excited to go to?

Hmm…this is such a tough question! I am excited for all of them for their own specific ways. If I had to choose ONLY one…I would say Uganda.

How do you even pack for a whole year?

I will be living out of large travel backpack and carrying around a day pack. The double backpack look is in now guys!! The greatest thing I have already learned through the preparation process is that less is more.

Can I come in your pack with you?!

OF COURSE!! I will save some space near the top of my pack 😛

Are you excited?!

I am very excited! There has been such an assurance that God has spoken over this trip to me that I know that I am called to go. I’m definitely going to miss my family and friends terribly, but I am anxiously anticipate how God is going to shape me and my squad over this upcoming year.

How can I follow you on your race?

You can follow my race journey through my blog mckenziemurdock.theworldrace.org by subscribing for email updates! I will also be still on social media and have my email that you can always reach me through too ([email protected]

Thank you for all the great questions! I am so blessed to have an incredible support through my family and friends! I couldn’t go on this race without your love, support, and prayers. Please keep my squad and myself in your prayers, as we head to training camp in October!

As always, if you have any further questions about the race OR if you want to meet up and get coffee, feel free to message me 🙂

Much Love,

McKenzie
