Hi Family!

Indonesia has been full of surprises and unexpected twists.  The first being what we would up doing in Indonesia for the most of our time.  WE WORKED ON A FARM!! Now most of you may immediately think of cows, horses, large open fields, and a big red barn full of hay, tractors, and feed.  If you want to know what farming looked like for us, think opposite of everything that just came in your mind.  We were in the middle of the mountains working on an organic farm that harvests mostly coffee beans and coco pods.  But that is far from all.  There was passionfruit, limes, ginger, turmeric, pumpkin, dragonfruit, and more.  On the farm also was a Nature School for teaching the remote village English!  Not your typical farm! It was amazing but, what was more amazing were the people we met who were running it.  We wanted to really show you how great it was so we put together a video that shares the story of our host Natsir and his vision and passion for the farm and nature school!  Also, we had a guy who was french on the farm as well and he had a drone so he let us use some great aerial footage in the video!  SO ENJOY!!!!

In the video you may have seen some new but very special faces!! WE HAVE A NEW TEAM!! Here they are:

MeMe has the best heart and really loves and cares for people. She also keeps us in a constant state of joy because she is so hilarious. Matt and I are very thankful to me on a team with MeMe because she has lots of married friends back home, so she knows what’s it’s like to have a two for one package deal.

Michaela is always thinking of others and is a deep thinker and brings a lot of value to conversations. She is a fellow camp girl and also grew up in the country. Matt and I are super thankful for her being our teams treasurer. Since Matt is the new team leader they have to work together a lot and she has been the absolute best! We are so thankful for her!

Morgan is really great at talking. She has no fear in approaching people and making them feel welcomed and loved. She even brings out random dance moves when encouraging our host or our drivers and brings big smiles to their faces. Morgan also loves growth and it has been really cool to watch that play out in her this month.

Alyssa is our worship leader and language teacher! Matt and I got to sing with her several times in Togo at the church we attended so it has been cool to have her on our team leading worship. She is also super passionate about languages and has been giving us Spanish lessons since we will be spending 4 months in South America! We are so thankful for the passion that she brings to our team.

Logistics…

This month we are staying in huts/bungalows up in the mountains. We have mosquito nets covering our beds since there are so many bugs here. We have a shower house with 2 squatty potties and a shower hose with running water but it is FREEZING. We are so thankful for the temperature here though. It’s been 75/80 since we have been here which is such an amazing change since we have been between 90 and 100 degrees most months. We don’t have WiFi and we don’t go into town very often because it’s pretty far but I don’t think most of us mind. It is so beautiful here! Our hosts wife cooks all 3 meals for us and it is so good!!! Breakfast is usually friend bananas with honey and peanut butter and lunch and dinner is always rice with a vegetable from the garden with egg, tempe, tofu, chicken or fish. Also always served with a spicy tomato sauce on the side and every couple days we get fried corn fritters with other veggies that we all love! OH and I can’t forget about the fresh fruit from the garden! Everyday I pick a passion fruit off the vine and go to town…they are so good!!!

We had such a refreshing month and the Kingdom was brought near to this place! Continue to pray for Natsir and our team and we are headed to the Philippines today!!!
