Hello Friends!
Quick update… we almost have all of our funds raised! Praise Jesus!! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated. We are SO thankful for you! If you are wanting to donate and just haven’t gotten around to it yet, now is the time! Our Father has really drawn us closer to His heart throughout this whole process and we are so thankful!
Matt and I will be heading to his parents in North Carolina on December 27th and then heading to Atlanta for a few more days of training on Jan 3rd and then we fly out to Cote d’Ivoire on the 7th!! It‘s getting so close and we are so excited, but treasuring the time we have with family and friends before we leave.
We have gotten a lot of questions about being married and doing The World Race together. Some people probably think we are crazy to do this as a married couple, while we think the single people are the brave ones because we know we have each other! Anyways, here are some common questions we get that we will answer. We will have to update this again when we are actually on the race so we can be more accurate. Haha
1. Will you always be in the same place together? For the most part, yes. There is something called ”Manistry Month” where Matt may join up to do ministry with another group of guys that he would LOVE. But we will see.
2. Where will you sleep? Really just depends on where we are at. Sometimes we will get to have our own room. Sometimes we will sleep in our tent together. Sometimes we may be sleeping on the floor with our whole team.
3. Will you get alone time as a married couple? YES! Praise! Haha. We will get to take a half day of minsitry just to ourselves once a week to reconnect as a couple and get some alone time. We also get to take a few “Marriage Retreats” over the weekend to go off on our own and rejuvenate and then come back to our team.
4. Are you nervous? Proably not as much as other people because we have done long term missions together before. There are of course some concerns, but we have full faith that the Lord is going to provide what we need, when we need it!
5. Will it be hard for you to be the only married couple on your squad? Well, we actually have a married couple who just finished their race In December that will be around for the first 6 months! What a blessing! We love our team and are so excited to do life with them. We know we aren’t perfect and our team will be sure to witness that, but we think/pray they will be patient with us. 😉
