As I sit here with this cute little boy… who doesn’t speak any English…and let’s face it I don’t speak much Spanish!
But a beautiful thing happens… this little boy starts writing his numbers 1, 2, 3…! As he writes them I watch… he writes his 5 , 6, & 7 and had accidentally mirrored them on the paper, I correct him by writing out the numbers correctly! So he continues on with his numbers, but now after every number he writes he looks up at me with his chocolate brown eyes and cute little face… as if asking “Is this right?” If it’s right I say sí and he moves on to the next number!
As I sit here with him, from 1 to 100… saying sí (yes) and muy buen (very good) at least 100+ times…
I’m in awe that:
1. This kid looks up to me so much for affirmation!
2. That I’m given the privilege to sit still and love on this child in this way! To encourage and celebrate his achievements with him!
3. The Lord but me in this spot to teach me something!
I feel he’s saying… just as this child is seeking affirmation from you! I want you (Mallory) to seek affirmation from me, your Heavenly Father! Let me be your encourager, let me praise you for your works and achievements, let me love on you! Trust me for I love you and want to take care of you! Trust me that I can use you in any situation…. whether major language barriers, cultural differences, differences in ages… Trust me for I am with you every step of the way!
Just as God provided Abraham with a ram to sacrifice for his faithfulness, so will he provide a way for me, if I Faithful Seek and Trust Him!
