Dear God,
I’ve been on stage, actually and metaphorically, as long as I can remember. I’ve been taught to always behave respectfully and in a certain manner. I’ve followed the guidelines on how to stand, walk, and play. These roles have involved practicing, writing, attending, auditioning, applying, and interviewing. As I’ve continue to grow in my faith and beliefs, I’ve learned how freeing it can be to release control of my plans and find my identity solely in you. You’ve accepted me, chosen me, and believe in me. You have adopted me as a daughter. You know me fully and see me as beyond the me that I portray on stage. You see the real me.
Through the avenue of dance over the last two years, you’ve given me a new outlet of performing that has transformed into a way of worship. With Acclamation Dance Ministry, you’ve brought the opportunity to use my body to move and worship you. To share emotions, stories, truth, and experiences with people while performing for an audience of one. This ministry has been so healing and accepting, full of fellow believers who have encouraged and challenged me in many ways.
I pray that you continue to transform me from a performer to a true and free worshipper. Thank you for the free gift and freedom you’ve given me through your sacrifice of your only son Jesus Christ. Help me to continue to drop everything and receive the peace that I need from you like from our dance with modern 2. I want to dance, sing, and praise you with my words and movement like David did throughout the Psalms. You never turn a cold shoulder to me – in the good and bad times – you continue to choose me and promise to always love me. I want to choose you and love you all the days of my life. Help me live while holding onto these promises as we danced in outreach this semester. I want my roots to grow deep and your love to overflow.
God, I am blown away by your faithfulness. Today was another anonymous donation, and I am so moved by the generosity of your people. I am so excited to share your love to those we meet on this adventure. I am so grateful for the ways you’ve provided in preparing my heart and soul – for the ways you fill my cup – and for the people and partnerships you’ve formed. You’ve moved each piece into place and brought this team of people together for a reason. I’m excited for the friendships to come as you teach me more of what it is like to be in true community with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. May you receive all the praise and glory.
Love,
Madison Riley
