I leave tomorrow for Africa! So it’s time I tell you what I did that could cause me to get deported.
I told people about an incredible man named Jesus.
Today I had a breakfast date with a local follower of Jesus to encourage her in her walk, then I had a lunch date with a 28 year old Chinese Buddhist that had never heard about Jesus. Have you ever tried to tell someone the story of the Bible in 30 minutes? It’s hard.
After I had the most amazing lunch ever with a girl who got to hear the good news for the FIRST time, I made my way across town to the post office.
Except I had no data and no idea where the post office was.
I kept asking people who sent me in the wrong direction for 45 minutes! I thought it had been long enough and I was just about ready to go back home.
Then God said, “ask one more.”
I ran across a Malay woman whose face lit up when I asked her for help. She didn’t know where the post office was but she brought it up on her map and before I knew it she was ordering an Uber for us to get into that took us straight there.
Izzy was 21. Muslim. Never heard the good news of Jesus.
It’s illegal to even bring up the name of Jesus to this woman.
She spent the next hour and a half with me going in between the post office and bank only to realize I had no money on my debit card and had no way to send the box home.
It was a hilarious moment to realize God never intended for me to send the box, he intended for me to meet Izzy.
She wanted to know everything about my life, so I took a chance and told her I was a missionary telling people about Jesus.
She had never heard of such a thing.
Fear of deportation, persecution, imprisonment and death cripple the believers in this country. Only 2% of believers in this country actually share the gospel with Malay people. 60% of the country is Malay! So that means 100% of Malay people live without ever hearing the good news of the gospel.
Here is an even harder thing to grasp. That’s 100% of a people group who are headed to hell.
“Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire”
– Jude 1:22
Today I got to take part in trying to snatch someone from the fires of hell.
Philippians 1:6 reassures us that “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.”
So I am sure I will get to see Izzy in heaven because of the seed God used me to plant.
Say yes to sharing Jesus with people who don’t know Him. Thousands of people in American are on the same route Izzy was on. But you can take part in snatching them from the fire just by an obedient yes in your spirit.
Thanks for using me God.
Pray for Muslims like Izzy who have no chance to even consider believing in Jesus. Pray the government will abolish the Muslim law that makes it illegal to convert and pray for courage in new believers to follow Jesus even if it means being persecuted by their friends and family.
