these past 3 weeks have been a whirlwind of events and emotions. i have had zero motivation to write, but thought i should let you all know what’s been going on with life on the field.

3 weeks ago i was in Banos, Ecuador on month 1 debrief. we got to explore the city and do all sorts of exciting things. i took most of the time to just relax, because alone time on the world race is almost non-existent. i got lots of coffee with my friends and even went to the swing at the end of the world. it was really fun to take a small break from ministry to explore God’s creation.

then, 2 weeks ago we traveled on a bus to a beautiful ministry in the mountains called DuNami’s. their mission is to house girls and women who have been rescued from the sex trade and encourage them to eventually get jobs and live on their own. the first day that i was there, some of us got to interact with the girls. we played uno and got to talk with them. my squad( and i for part of the time) spent 5 days passing cinder blocks down an assembly line to help build a wall around the property to protect the girls. it was really hard work, but you could definitely see the goodness of the Lord in it.

then, 1 week ago, as i’m sure most of you know, i started to get sick. Sunday and Monday were not so bad, the doctor thought that i had some sort of infection, gave me some medicine and sent me on my way. Tuesday came and i wasn’t getting any better, i had decided that i would probably just go back to the doctor on Wednesday, because i have a low pain tolerance anyway and felt like i was over exaggerating. my leaders and teammates thankfully didn’t let that happen, late Tuesday night we got a ride to the hospital. i stayed there for 2 nights, and they told me that i have colitis. right now, i am back at my house here in Ecuador and have been resting a lot. thank you all for your prayers and text messages through all of this. it really does stink that i’m across the world away from my family at a time like this, but i know that with Jesus i can get through anything.
