I finally found some solid wifi to upload photos from Kenya!!
Kenz & the boys – our unofficial team name
Our first night with our host at YWAM Athi River we were able to snap this photo. We were so blessed to have a safari in our backyard! SO COOL!
Because of all of the rain (super unusual for this time of year) we spent LOTS of time in the kitchen. But I wasn’t too upset because we got to hangout & work with Mama almost everyday!
We quickly became the best bean sorters! We would joke that we couldn’t see straight after doing this for hours each day.
Staying at a YWAM base we got to make lots of new friends & do ministry with them. These are just a few of our YWAM Kona friends. They were on their outreach phase here in Kenya. So blessed to have crossed paths with these incredible people. This was a morning ministry opportunity at a primary school. I loved being able to share bible stories & different ways to talk to God with the little ones.
I got to milk cows! This is something I’ve done back home a few times but when I saw (or more, smelled) the pen I knew that was something I wanted to do this month. And yes, I did it in my Chacos. Jason helped me scrub them for awhile after this, yikes!
With all the safety concerns this month we were unsure about being able to travel to Northern Kenya. We finally received the green light and went for it. Halfway into our 12 hour road trip we had to switch vehicles. This photo shows the boys + some locals pushing this land cruiser uphill & out of the way to get our vehicle out. Not pictured was them actually picking the car up after the hill. WILD.
In Northern Kenya we stayed in a town called Marsabit. It was HOT. We walked a LOT. We partnered with a pastor & did home visits daily. We visited the sick and elderly who were no longer able to make the long journey to church each week. Pastor even brought communion to them. It was a really neat experience!
YWAM sent a staff member from base with us to Marsabit. Boniface was someone we knew before we left but really got to pour into during this time. His story is incredible and the ways that he is now serving the Lord are even cooler! He became part of our team this week & we love him so much!!
My Hannah girl got to spend the month with us!! As most of you know, she was on my first team. She was raised up as a squad leader and now travels from team to team. Because of the ratio of men vs. women on our team she stayed the whole month. It was so good to spend this time with her. My fellow midwest gal.
Heading back to base we stopped at the equator!
Team time in the tree!
Moments like this are the reason I’ve lugged my hammock around for all these months.
One of my favorite types of ministry this month was home visits. This particular one there were two newborn babies!!
Ben. This man is so awesome. He was such a blessing to our team this month. He is so on fire for the Lord and his testimony is one that everyone needs to hear. I know the Lord has big plans for him & that makes me so excited.
