A quick update since I haven’t blogged for a while!

I am currently in Cusco, Perú (been here for about a week) where we’re living on the outskirts of the touristy areas in a church compound. The altitude is KILLER (just talking can wind me) and the weather is colder than I expected but the mountains are breathtaking. We are partnering with Calvary Chapel Cusco in our ministry this month.

So far our ministry has consisted of: painting & cleaning at an orphanage; hosting youth group; prayer walks; prayer and worship service; and traveling to a small community to play with the kids there and just show them the love of Christ.

This month is very opposite of what we had last month in Ecuador in terms of intimacy and relationships; the people here are not as open and loving and as excited to get to know the Americans. The culture is very standoffish and it’s been disheartening to my teammates and I. I knew that coming on the Race that there would be times when we wouldn’t be received so heartily but I didn’t expect it from Latin America.

Despite this, I know that God is working all things for His glory and this just might be a month of sowing rather than reeping!

Also, in the past 24/48 hours I have developed a little bit of altitude sickness and I’m a tad bit dehydrated (I told you the altitude is no joke). I’m doing better after sleeping for 15 hours and drinking water but if you could pray for my recovery and that none of my teammates develop this I would really appreciate it!!

Thank you all for your prayers and support!
