The grass is always greener on the other side. I am one who has always strived to be the best me. In any situation, I am always trying to find or do something better.
Being present has been difficult for me my whole life. I would be a warm body in the moment but my brain would be in a thousand different places, making me not present- thinking of what would be coming next.
On the race, I have had to stop, rest, relax and really soak up what is happening in that specific moment. We are in a country for only one month, it is filled with many different activities, meeting new people, learning new languages, figuring out public transport, and still trying to be yourself. Although many things are happening all around me, I have tried to be more present. For I will never have another day or moment like this again. I can not relive yesterday, I can only live in the moment of today.
The other day I stopped and listened to my team in our apartment (I live in a house with 6 other people). Some talking, others playing guitar, some reading, talking to family on facetime. It’s such a beautiful thing- many people all in the same moment, completing many different tasks under the same roof. It’s a beautiful thing.
Being present and enjoying the moment is such a blessing, I have really enjoyed life this past month, it has been one of the most challenging but also one of the best months of my life.
Here’s to being present and living in the moment each and every day.
