Where to begin? How do I begin to explain why I am going on the World Race and what brought me here? A collection of many decisions and an amazing God brought me here.
Those close to me know that I am always up for an adventure, whether it is a hike, booking a flight to a new destination, or moving to a different place for several months at a time.
The World Race is a much bigger adventure. An adventure that will take me to 11 different countries in 11 months. To many of you, the very idea of this is terrifying and crazy. To me it is a mix of terrifying, crazy, amazing, wonderful, and everything I’ve ever wanted to do all in one. I’m not naive to think that this will be easy, that fundraising $19,200 will be easy, or that I won’t get incredibly homesick, or that I won’t want to give up at some point throughout this journey. That is the thing though, as difficult as all of this sounds God is calling me to these 11 countries. He is calling me to this incredible opportunity.
God and I have not always been on the same page per say. So much has happened in my life that made it so hard to trust a God who allowed those things to happen, but in my darkest moments he was there. When I hit rock bottom, he held the light that showed me the way out of the hole I was in. God is the only reason I get to write this blog post today, the reason I am able to go on this amazing trip.
There is so much I could write in this blog, and there is so much I will write in the future. But for now, this is my reason for going; I am chasing an incredible God through 11 countries in 11 months because he has called me here. He has called me to follow him, to learn from him, and to bring light to these countries. I am going on this trip because of all of this as well as my overwhelming sense of adventure gives me chills when I think about the year ahead of me. I can’t say that I am ready for this trip, but I am ready to grow, to learn, and to see why God called me to this trip.
